Catalogue Raisonné
To accompany the exhibition An Abiding Standard: The Works of Stanley Anderson RA hosted by the Royal Academy, London from 25th February to 24th May 2015, Robert Meyrick, an art historian, curator, tutor and retired Professor, Head of Aberystwyth University’s School of Art and Harry Heuser, writer, tutor and exhibition curator, compiled this fully illustrated and annotated Catalogue Raisonne which gathers all of Anderson’s prints together for the first time.
This comprehensive list of prints and incisive commentary reveal Anderson as an artist.
The primary source enquiries and research cannot be underestimated and as the Catalogue explains, some fascinating discoveries were made in the process.
The compilation of this Catalogue became possible with the encouragement and support of print enthusiast, collector and sponsor Stuart Southall.
Gordon Forster, who had long been collecting and documenting Anderson’s prints and established a significant and almost complete archive of his works, was also a most willing and helpful contributor. Gordon created the Stanley Anderson website in 2014, updating and maintaining it until his death in 2025.
